ALMA
On the west coast of Ireland, where dramatic cliffs rise from the Atlantic Ocean like monuments sculpted by time, ALMA is born a residence conceived not as an object placed within the landscape, but as an integral part of it.
The project is driven by a simple yet powerful idea: to reduce architecture to its purest expression, allowing nature to become the true protagonist. Through a composition of horizontal planes that gently unfold across the terrain, the house appears to emerge from the land itself, blending seamlessly with the topography and extending the natural lines of the horizon.
ALMA does not seek to compete with the grandeur of its surroundings; instead, it seeks to enhance it. Every space has been carefully designed to capture the power of the Atlantic Ocean, the vastness of the Irish sky, and the ever-present drama of the cliffs, transforming the landscape into an essential part of everyday life.
The indoor swimming pool forms the emotional heart of the project. Set within a spectacular double-height space and surrounded by carefully selected natural materials, it opens entirely towards the ocean through a monumental panoramic aperture. The water surface visually extends toward the horizon, dissolving the boundary between interior and exterior and creating the sensation that the pool becomes part of the sea itself.
